Today, we wanna talk about the top 12 reasons why you may want to move to Plano, Texas. Plano is getting asked about all the time. It is a fairly large city here in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. It's about it covers about 72 square miles and has over 291,000 people in just, just within the city of Plano and here in the Dallas Fort Worth area. Some of our cities are actually a lot smaller if you're thinking somewhere like Flower Mound, where it only has like 40,000 people, but you can also be obviously in cities like Frisco. So Plano as a city is actually quite large here in the area.  I guess we should talk about how large Dallas, is Dallas is pretty huge as well, but Plano for instance is quite big. It and a lot of things are separated by west Plano and east Plano and if you're further east in Plano, The homes tend to be a little bit older and as you move further west, that's where the homes are a little bit newer, especially a lot of the places that you may want to go and hang out, as well as some of the businesses that have come into the Dallas Fort Worth area.

Easy Access to Downtown Dallas

The number one reason on our list for living in Plano is the access to multiple downtown areas. Everybody's always talking about downtown Dallas and there are multiple ways to get down there. You have the Dallas north tollway that runs north and south. Down into Dallas, as well as the 75 freeway and the 75 freeway is pretty much on the east side of Plano and the Dallas north tollway is more on the west side of Plano, but both roads will take you straight down into downtown Dallas,  not only that, there are multiple ways to get up into Frisco and over into Allen and McKinney.  You can take freeways all the way over, down into Southlake, and down into Fort worth as well. So multiple freeway systems make it very convenient to travel all around the metroplex from where Plano is. 

There are Ton’s of Restaurants 

So number two on our list of why people love living in Plano is the restaurant scene and it's probably one of our favorites as well. There are so many restaurants out there, whether it's new restaurants, high-end dining, your typical taco shop, there's really something there for everybody, but especially over on the west side of Plano, that's where the whole legacy east and legacy west areas are, which is shopping and dining and it borders Frisco right there on the Dallas, north tollway and just on the south side of the 1 21 with Frisco on the north hand side, that's where tons of businesses have come in. You have multiple areas to be able to go and enjoy dining,  over there. We love going out there, on the weekends, or meeting up with friends. It's a great central location where everybody can meet up because where the freeways are right there. But you also have granite park over on the east side of the one 20 or the Dallas north tollway as well. So multiple areas, but that is probably like if you're gonna go out on a Friday, On the weekends, or even during lunch, with some coworkers, you're probably going to end up in legacy west. Obviously, you have a great food hall over there and different dining options down, throughout the whole legacy west area, but you also have it on the east side as well. There's more shopping, more dining.  but pretty much like your nightlife, you can go and catch concerts down over in legacy west, and things always are happening out there in legacy, but all throughout Plano, there are also multiple places where you can find pretty much any kind of restaurant that you can think of, so many places to eat and we love food. So you will never have a shortage of trying to find something new to try and, meeting up with friends or taking your kids out for dinner. It, you can definitely find it in the Plano area.

Events Almost Every Weekend and Holiday

Number three on our list of why you might love Plano is the number of events that take place just within the city of Plano. We are always talking about how you can find pretty much something to do anywhere in the entire Dallas metroplex, but specifically in Plano, I think because it's so big, there are multiple things going on. It's pretty much, I think you could find something going on every single weekend. Like I said, down in legacy. West on Friday nights, they put on, great concerts with great cover bands. So if you wanna go grab dinner with friends and then go head to a concert every single Friday night, you have music festivals and food festivals and a tomato festival, hot air balloon festivals, and concerts in the park. Of course, great. 4th of July celebration as well. So you're never gonna have a shortage of things to do all throughout the Plano area. 

Parks and Hiking Trails All-Around

Number four on the list of why you should move to Plano is the number of parks that they have there. So whether you have little kids and you wanna just take 'em out and push 'em on the swings, tons of areas to do that. But if you want hiking trails and biking trails, there are two major parks in the Plano area.

One is Arbor Hills, which is over on the west side of Plano, which is tons of trails in through the trees and it's a lot of concrete, so you can go running, you can take strollers out there, you can take your kids out there to ride scooters. You can take your bikes out there, tons of trails, and you could probably spend hours out there enjoying nature. And out on the east side of Plano is what they call Oak Point Park, same thing, tons of trails, but they also have, it's not all paved. You have gravel trails. There's a great zip line area out there, a park area, pond area for fishing. So many things over there as well, but you don't have to just go to these big, huge nature preserves. You can go to parks all throughout the Plano area. So something that is great to check out, if you need to get your kids outta the house on a Saturday, Love it,

The population is Big, But not TOO Big

The number five reason for living in Plano is the population.  It is one of the bigger cities here in the Dallas Fort Worth area, but compared to some of these other big cities, it's not that everybody's combined on top of each other. There is plenty of space, people can be spread out. You have some homes that have bigger lots, but you also have smaller homes and great, beautiful neighborhoods. So we love that it is just such a great population and it is such a great community that you would absolutely love living in. 

Low Crime Rate Compared to National Average

The number six reason for living in Plano is it has a really low crime rate, which if anybody moves to any big city that is always going to be a huge bonus. So it is definitely much lower than the national average. So people tend to say that they feel a lot safer living in the living within the city of Plano, there are a lot of very wonderful, beautiful, established neighborhoods, which people say, just feel really safe and it's just a sense of community that people feel like, you know, especially here in Texas, we feel like you get to know your neighbors a little bit better, that way everybody kind of watches out for each other, obviously check your local area and those kinds of things. But statistically speaking Plano is definitely much lower than the national average, which makes it a huge draw for people wanting to move to 

Schools are Great

Number seven on the list, depending on what it is you're looking for is the number of schools in the Plano area. They have great schools that get really high ratings. We always recommend checking places like great schools.org and niche.com so that you can get the particular ratings that you may be looking for specifically, but with 74 schools in the Plano area, multiple options to choose from there are 44 elementary schools, 13 middle schools, six high schools and they actually have three senior high schools, but just within the city of Plano, they also have private schools, Christian schools, and charter schools as well. So like I said, multiple options with,  where to choose, to send your kids to school. But if you're gonna go check those websites that we talked about, like great schools or niche.com, they will be able to tell you,  the school rankings and, maybe give you a better idea of which school you might think would be right for your family.

The Jobs Market is Awesome

The number eight reason for moving to Plano is the job market with the amount of growth that is coming here to the Dallas Fort Worth area. A lot of jobs are not only located in Plano specifically, but in some of the cities right around Plano. So that way, if you're moving to Plano and you might. And you're thinking you might need to commute for work. It might be that much easier to get to your job by not having to spend hours commuting, like say you're coming from California or New York, or even places like Seattle or Chicago, if you can live and work right within Plano, or maybe in one of the neighboring cities like Frisco or Richardson, your commute is gonna be so much shorter, which is just going to make it that much more of a bonus to live right within the city limits of Plano.

Housing is Still Affordable

Number nine on the list of why you should move to Plano is the affordable housing that they have in the Plano area. There are some very expensive homes you can be in one of the gated communities over in the Willow Bend neighborhood. You can be in one of the high-rise condos over in legacy west. But also there are multiple neighborhoods where you can get into a decent size home and the average price point in the Plano area right now is just over $400,000. But there are certainly different areas.  If you're going to move to the east side of Plano, that's where some of the older homes are that you can get into one of like maybe the smaller homes, maybe it hasn't had like a lot of updates in it. In fact, we helped a client get into a home. In fact, we helped some clients get into a house over on the east side of Plano, and it was the cutest house. It had the original owner. It was quite outdated, but everything in it structurally was fantastic and they had updated the air conditioning unit and the water heater. So everything about it was super clean, they've already started painting and remodeling the house and it is super cute. So yes, you can get into a lot of these neighborhoods that may be a little bit outdated, but you might actually get a better deal on the house as well. And then that way, when you go to move into it, you can actually put your stamp on it. You can redecorate it and remodel it the way that you want it. But just moving into any of these neighborhoods in the Plano area, you probably have a chance to be able to pick and choose some of the features that you may be looking for. Yes, you can go and buy a home that is over a million dollars, but even then we've noticed that some of the houses are still a little bit outdated. It may have a bigger floor plan. It may have a pool in the backyard. Here in Texas, we like to say a lot of things are traditional and since some of the homes are,  are older because Plano has actually been around a long time, there's probably a lot more updating that needs to be done in some of these neighborhoods. So just something to think about, if you're wanting to get into a new build, that's not something you're gonna find in the city of Plano right now.

Rich in History

The number 10 reason to move to Plano is the amount of history and you know, some of the modern amenities that you are also, that you're gonna be able to find in the area. There is so much history in Plano because it actually has been around for a long time. There are different museums that you can check out, but some of those neighborhoods are so well established and you see these big, beautiful trees, but just being able to be in one of those types of communities is actually quite wonderful. We have people who do live in older neighborhoods that we know that absolutely love being in that area and it just gives a little bit more character and history to it.  That makes it sometimes a little bit more fun than just always get into getting into one of these new build communities where it doesn't have any of the character and there are no trees established and you're gonna probably look to another 10 to 20 years before beautiful and has that same character that you might find in a well-established neighborhood in the city of Plano.

The number 11 reason to move to the Plano area is the amount of transportation. Like we said before, Planos pretty much surrounded by freeways. You have the 121 that borders Plano on the north side, but the Dallas north tollway runs north and south on the west side. And the 75 freeway runs north and south on the east side.  But there are freeways that can take you all around different parts of the metroplex. But another thing that's fairly convenient about being in the Plano area is its access to the dart system and our dart system is pretty much the train system that runs here in the Dallas Fort Worth area if you're looking for a system that runs kind of like the way the subway system runs in New York or the Metro system runs in DC. You're not really gonna find that here, but it can carry you to downtown Dallas, if that's truly what you're looking for, cuz you don't like fighting traffic, but we are always telling people that if you're gonna move to Dallas, you really do need a car, because getting all around the metroplex you are gonna wanna need it. If you're gonna need to get groceries, or maybe you want to be able to go out and meet up with people on the weekends. It's our transportation system. Doesn't run the way a subway in a Metro system does here as they do in other cities.

The weather in Dallas Metro is Awesome

And last but not least the number 12 reason to move to Plano, Texas is for the weather. But obviously, you know what we say that all about the entire Dallas Fort Worth area, people are moving here for our weather. Yes, it's hot. Yes. It's humid. But if you are sick and tired of the cold and you wanna be able to enjoy the outdoors, there are so many ways to enjoy the outdoors here in the city of Plano that you'll absolutely love whether it's being outdoors or swimming or hiking, biking or even just taking a picnic people definitely move here for the weather.
